These are the list of characters only for the reboot of the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. Besides being a child murder, Wes Craven changed the character's idea of becoming abusive to children.

The series is the official big screen debut of One Direction member Harry Styles and singer-rapper Sean Kingston.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

Jesse Braun

Jesse Braun is a teenager who experiences horrific nightmares about a disfigured man. While talking with his friend Nancy and ex-girlfriend Kris, he realizes that they are sharing similar dreams but still refuses to admit his own experiences. After Kris' new boyfriend Dean is killed under strange circumstances, Jesse goes to her house to support her where she asks him to stay awake and watch over her. However, Jesse falls asleep and Freddy is able to attack and kill Kris with Jesse unable to see her assailant or save her. Falling under suspicion, Jesse is captured by the police and placed in jail. After falling asleep, Freddy is able to attack him, piercing his heart and killing him.[1]

His story arc in the remake is similar to that of Rod Lane's from the original 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'.

Kris Fowles

Kris Fowles is a teenager suffering horrific dreams of a burned man. She is the best friend of Nancy Holbrook. After witnessing her boyfriend Dean seemingly commit suicide, she asks her ex-boyfriend Jesse to comfort her over night she also learns he has been experiencing the same dreams as her. As she sleeps that night, she is attacked by Freddy and brutally murdered in her dreams, causing suspicion to fall on Jesse.[1]

She shares many plot similarities to Tina Gray

Nancy Holbrook

Nancy Holbrook is a teenager and waitress who witnesses her friend Dean Russell seemingly kill himself in the diner where she works. She begins to experience dreams of a burned man and during Dean's funeral, she finds a photo of her and her group of friends as children despite claiming to have only met them as a young adult. As she investigates, she discovers that all of the other children in the photo have died, mostly in their sleep. Questioning her mother, Nancy finds that she had known her friends as children where they were sexually abused by gardener Freddy Krueger and as a result the parents had gathered together and murdered him. Nancy has no memory of these events, blaming her parents for killing Freddy without evidence believing him to now be hunting her for revenge. Nancy and Quentin decide to return to their preschool for answers and find Krueger's hidden room there along with evidence that he did indeed sexually assault the children. Nancy intentionally falls asleep in order to capture Freddy and bring him into the real world but while there, Freddy reveals that she has stayed awake so long that she will never be able to wake up on her own, intending to keep her there with him.

Quentin uses an injection of adrenalin to force Nancy awake, bringing Freddy with her. Using a broken paper-cutter blade, Nancy is able to sever Krueger's hand and then cut his throat before setting fire to the room with his remains inside. Though she believes Freddy defeated, he is able to return, dragging Nancy's mother into a mirror.[1]

Nancy is set to return for sequel A Nightmare on Elm Street 2, the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. Five years after she experienced nightmares, Nancy worked at Mercy Hospital to help the children, who are all are experiencing nightmares of Freddy Krueger. Nancy takes Brooke, Seth and the rest of the last surving kids into the dreams to rescue Chad. After they found him and rescue him, Nancy gets killed by Freddy and makes him stab himself in the neck rescuing Brooke. Nancy dies on Brooke's arms.

She shares some story similarities with Nancy Thompson.

Freddy Krueger

In the 2010 remake, Freddy Krueger is a school gardener who sexually abused children, particularly his favorite Nancy Holbrook and her friends who he takes to a hidden location in the school building. He uses his traditional glove not to kill them but to inflict scratches and cuts to the infants. When the parents discover what he has been doing, they hunt him down and burn him alive. After his death, he is able to return and stalk the children, now young adults, in their dreams before murdering them. As the children begin to remember who Freddy is and what he did to them, they enact a plan to bring Freddy into the real world to kill him. After pulling him into the waking world, they are able to sever his gloved-hand and slice his throat before setting fire to their school building, containing his remains. Though he is believed dead, he is able to break through a mirror and drag Nancy's mother Gwen into it.[1] In the remake, his trademark glove was a gardening tool and not a customized weapon.

In a sequel, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Freddy is back from the dead. After all of the deaths of the children on Elm Street, Freddy is once again coming after more children he abused including Brooke, Chad and Seth and all of the patients of Mercy's Hospital. Nancy, who now works at the hospital, must help the kids to fight against Freddy before he kills all of them.

Freddy returns again more powerful than ever in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 killing off the last three elm street children, Seth than Chad and finally Brooke. After Brooke's death her friend Alice now has her dream powers as defense to defeat Freddy.

Dean Russell

Dean Russell is a teenager who is experiencing strange dreams about an unknown man and suffering from extreme sleep deprivation. While in the Springwood Diner he begins to fall asleep, allowing Freddy to attack him, cutting his hand. Dean wakes up and takes a knife to defend himself but as he falls asleep again, Freddy uses the knife in his dream to cut Dean's throat, killing him.[1]

Quentin Smith

Quentin Smith is a teenager and friend of Nancy Holbrook, suffering from horrific dreams that made him reluctant to sleep. Quentin is romantically interested in Nancy though she does not reciprocate the feelings. Along with Nancy, he discovers that they had actually known each other as children in preschool but their memories of the time were blocked out. While under attack by Freddy he experiences a vision of their parents murdering Freddy Krueger after they realized he had been abusing the children. With no memory of being molested himself, he blames the parents for killing an innocent man who was now seeking revenge on the children for 'lying'. Along with Nancy, he returns to their preschool and discovers that Freddy had actually been abusing the children. When Nancy goes into her dreams to capture Krueger, Quentin uses adrenalin to shock her awake when she shows signs of distress. As she wakes, she brings Krueger into the real world with her and Quentin acts as a distraction for the now-real killer to give Nancy the chance to kill him. He is last seen in an ambulance with severe injuries.[1]

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 (2013)

Brooke Brower

Brooke Marie Brower is a 16-year-old teenage girl who is experiencing nightmares about a horribly burned man, known to be a child abuser Freddy Krueger. Her parents divorce when she was 4 years old and now lives with her mother. After a suicide attempt, Brooke is taken to Mercy Hospital. Like Nancy and her friends, she was also abused by Freddy since she was in preschool alongside Chad, Cleveland and many patients of Mercy Hospital. Brooke does have the power to pull people into her dreams ever since she was a little girl. Now she's 16, and she might use her powers as defense to defeat Freddy.

In A Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Brooke draws a picture of a pre-school she attended at a young age, revealing to be the same school that Nancy attends. She went to sleep and had a dream of a deserted pre-school just like in her drawing. She immedetly awakens just in time before she is still asleep at this time getting her arm sliced by a razer by Freddy Krueger, which appears to be a suicide attempt in reality and taken to the hospital by her mother Lisa, where her father works. Now Brooke must face her fears with patients including her two friends Seth and Chad with the help of Nancy, who faced with the same situation in the past. After Brooke falls a sleep again, she pulled in Nancy, just in time to come and rescue her from being eaten by a giant snake, revealing that Brooke has dream powers, the ability to pull people into her dreams. As Chad gets kidnapped, Nancy uses Brooke to use her dream powers to fight against Freddy and rescue him. Nancy gets killed by Freddy, in which she rescues Brooke before he can kill her as Nancy dies on her arms. Brooke survives.

Brooke returns in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3. It's been a year since she, Chad and Seth fights against Freddy, and she is still paranoid about it. Realizing that he may not be dead, Brooke warns the boys, but they refuse to believe her. Later on, Freddy did return and kills both the boys, freaking Brooke out. Brooke was drugged by her mom Lisa by taking pills in order to go to sleep. She is attacked by Freddy until she pulls her friend Alice into her dream. While fighting against him to save Alice, Freddy throws Brooke into the boiling furnace, burning her to death. Before dying, she passes her dream powers not to Alice, but accidentally to Freddy. In real life, she is last seening in her bedroom burning to death with her hand sticking out of her burning bed by Alice, her brother as well as Brooke's boyfriend Kyle and her mom. She is the last survior child member of Elm Street to die.

Brooke's plot story is similar than Kristen Parker's. She plays a smaller role in the third film. Stating her as the next Kristen Parker, her full name is changed to Brooke Allen to avoid confusion.

Harold Brower

Harold Allen is a divorced father of Brooke. He works at Mercy's Hospital where he is helping her daughter Brooke to fight her fears from her dreams. Brooke is having horrific nightmares about a burned man named Freddy Krueger, who appears to be a real life murderer if he kills people in their sleeps one by one. Harold has a very strong relationship with her daughter Brooke as much as her mother Lisa. Harold and Lisa divorced ever since Brooke was about 4 years old and she now lives with her mother.

In A Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Harold helped her daughter Brooke to face her fears from nightmares. He does not believe about the nightmares of Freddy Krueger He died at the end of the second film by Freddy's reflection in a mirror, while Brooke was screaming while watching him getting pulled in.

Chad Brown

Chad Brown is a patient at Mercy Hospital who is experiencing nightmares about child abuser Freddy Krueger. He attends preschool with Brooke, Seth and the patients of Mercy Hospital. He is a young teenager, who is unable to speak, and likes being flirty with girls.

In A Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Chad becomes a patient at Mercy Hospital including two friends Brooke and Seth, and other patients Carter, Daphne, Lance and Tina where he must face his fears from Freddy Krueger, a pre-school teacher who sexually abused children. Chad is unable to speak. Brooke pulls patients into dreams with her powers, but nothing seem to be working, and as for Chad, he spots a flirty nurse takes him into the patient room as the nurse removes all of clothes and makes out with Chad. That was for long until he has been tricked and being tied up by Freddy, kidnapping him, with Brooke realizing that Chad is in trouble. Nancy, Brooke and Seth entered the dream in time to rescue Chad. Meanwhile at the mirror room, Freddy captures Nancy, Brooke and Seth, with Chad screams causes the entire mirror to burst into thousands of pieces freeing them, meaning that Chad's dream power is his voice. Chad survives.

Chad has a smaller role in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, alongside Brooke and Seth. It's been a year and Brooke is still paranoid about Freddy's action. Chad and Seth refuses to believe her warning them that Freddy may not be dead. However, Freddy has returned coming after the boys. Freddy kills Chad by tricking him on seeing a naked woman in the pool, where he pulls him into the pool slashing him to death. His body was discovered the next morning by his mother.

Chad's plot story is similar than Joey Crusel. Chad is set to return for the third film, and Styles is set to reprise his role. Known as the new Joey Crusel, his full name is changed to Chad Brown to avoid confusion. Styles states that he is very nervous about starring into his first film.

Seth Cleveland

Seth Cleveland is a patient at Mercy Hospital who is experiencing nightmares about child abuser Freddy Krueger. He attends preschool with Brooke, Chad and the patients of Mercy Hospital.

In A Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Seth becomes a patient at Mercy Hospital alongside his two friends Brooke and Chad, and other patients Carter, Daphne, Lance and Tina. Seth is a tough teenager with anger issues, who needs help trying to overcome his fears from pre-school teacher Freddy Krueger, known as child abuser. Brooke got the dream powers, so she can use them to bring people into dreams. Seth's dream power is strength, and uses them to fight against Freddy. While Chad got kidnapped, Seth, Nancy and Brooke all rescued him. Seth survives.

Seth returns in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 alongside Brooke and Chad. He and Chad does not believe Brooke that Freddy may not be dead, and it's been year since the event of Nightmare 2. As Seth falls asleep, he dreams of himself at the junkyard, the same palce that was seen from the last film. He spots Freddy's return from underground. He fights against Freddy as his strength causes him to literly drops the car on him, apperently killed him. Although, Freddy is still alive traps him and stabs him in the abdomen. In reality, he suffers a heart attack and was found dead in the bedroom coughing up blood.

Cleveland's plot story is similar than Ronald Kincaid's. Cleveland is set to return for the third installment with Kingston reprising his role. Known to be the next Ronald Kincaid, his full name is changed to Seth Cleveland to avoid confusion.

Daphne Cooper

Daphne Cooper is a patient at Mercy's Hospital, who is experiencing nighmares about child abuser Freddy Krueger. She is killed by Freddy while killing him by smashing her face into the television screen.

Lance Harris

Lance Harris is a patient at Mercy's Hospital, who is suffering horrific nightmares about child abuser Freddy Kruger. He is seen to be on a wheel chair. His dream powers is to become a magical wizard. He is killed by Freddy while fighting against his wheel chair.

Lisa Brower

Lisa Brower is a divorced mother of Brooke Brower. When Brooke was four, her parents divorced and now she lives with Lisa. After her daughter is having horrible nightmares about child molester Freddy Kruger, she takes her to Mercy's Hospital. In A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, her daughter is still paranoid about Freddy. After realizing that she has not been getting enough sleep and is over with, she tricked her by putting sleeping pills in her dinner. Brooke is eventually killed by Freddy leading her mother devastated.

Steve Holbrook

Steve Holbrook is Nancy Holbrook's father. It revealed that he and his deceased wife Gwen were divorced. He is forced by her daughter to stop Freddy Krueger, but refused until he later decides to help out Harold Allen, Brooke's father. He and Harold enter the junkyard and found a skeleton in which it becomes alive thrown Steve into a sharp object killing him.

Carter Phillips

Carter Phillips is a patient at Mercy Hospital who is experiencing nightmares about a child abuser Freddy Krueger since preschool. Carter becomes Freddy's first victim where he gets killed by Freddy transforming him into a puppet using a string of his blood and make he fall off the building to his death cutting the strings. Brooke, Chad, Seth, Daphne, Tina and Lance tries to wake him up, but they are too late to save him as he fell to his death in reality.

Tina White

Tina White is a patient at Mercy Hospital who is experiencing nightmares about a child abuser Freddy Krueger since preschool. Tina's dream power is to become mysterious. She is killed by Freddy in a drug overdose.

Gwen Crawford

Alice Adams

Alice Adams is a shy teenage girl. She is described Brooke's good friend and a sister to Kyle. She began to experience mysterious nightmares about a burned man named Freddy Krueger. Brooke is killed after Freddy throws her into the furnace burning her alive. But before dying, she passes her dream powers to Alice, making her stronger, but as the bodies were inside Freddy to make him stronger, he also received her powers. During a fight to defeat Freddy unable to defeat him, Alice eventually used the rhythm of the Dream Master in order to control dreams, which lead to defeat Freddy, and unleashed all of the people's souls Freddy captured after their deaths. Alice's story is very similar than Alice Johnson (Lisa Wilcox).

Shake It Up star Bella Thorne has been chosen to play as the role, but turned it down. Bridgit Mendler is also originally going to play the role, but turned it down. Finally, Chloë Grace Moretz is rumored to play the role as Alice, in which she accepted the role. She is set to return for the fourth and final film.

Brian Adams

Brian Adams is an alcoholic father of Alice and Hunter, who treats them like garbage ever since their super nice mother died. He has been into stress for the rest of his life since he lost his wife from breast cancer.

Kyle Adams

Kyle Adams is a brother of Alice, son of Brian, and boyfriend of Brooke. He is a guitarist and material artist. He learned from the news about a burned man named Freddy Krueger, but he refuses to believe that he exists by his sister. Although, Freddy is truly real and kills his girlfriend Brooke, but seen burned in a fire in her bedroom and got devastated. As he feel asleep, he eventually met up with Freddy and got killed while performing material arts. He is last seen still alive at his funeral by Alice, but all turns out to be her imagination in her head.

Kyle is portrayed by Ross Lynch. He made his theatrical film debut since filming Disney Channel show, Austin & Ally.

Christina Hutchinson

Christina Hutchinson is a dorky friend of Amy with asthma. She is described being book smart and has never heard of Freddy Krueger.

Dave Jones

Dave Jones is a good friend of Alice's deceased brother Kyle. He is described being tall and handsome and Amy has a huge crush on him, and has never heard of Freddy Krueger. His storyline will be similar than Dan Jordan (Danny Hassel) in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and A Nighmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child.

One Direction member Zayn Malik will make his acting debut in the film just like his co-worker Harry Styles, who starred in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2. He confirms not returning for the next installment, and instead Dylan O'Brien will be replacing Malik for the leading role.
