Teen Titans 2 got off a strong start, similar to its predecessor Teen Titans back in 2015 by grossing $66.5 million on its opening day from 4,129 theaters. With that, it is now looks like that it can earn $160 million by Sunday, putting Furious 7 in danger on being a new April opening weekend record as that movie currently bowed $147 million.
With that, it will only be 4% lower opening than Teen Titans open with $172 million, which is really impressive. But worldwide looks to be passing $400 million, as China and Japan are on fire with the film's opening this weekend. It is because it is currently up to $140 million from 65 countries, and could lead up to maybe $300 million or $330 million.
As Teen Titans 2 will easily take the No. 1 spot, The Fate and the Furious will easily settle second place falling 75 percent on its second Friday for it's total of $11 million from 4,329 theaters, bringing its eight day gross to $136 million. Worldwide, it is already up to $772 million, thanks with its international gross of $636 million, which is super fast despite have the biggest worldwide opening of all-time last weekend.
The Boss Baby came at No. 3 with $3.2 million from 3,697 theaters, for a total of $127.4 million in 22 days, while Beauty and the Beast continues strong with $2.6 million from 3,315 theaters, for a total of $463.8 million in its sixth weekend.
Now rounding out the top five goes to Unforgettable with a disastrous $1.7 million from 2,417 theaters . It will settle probably a $5 million opening or maybe more. As for other new releases; Born in China, The Promise and Phoenix Forgotten, they all also flopped. Born in China made only $1.5 million, while The Promise made $1.4 million and Phoenix Forgotten only earned just $635k.
